Adgar Poland and its Brain Embassy brand have reason to celebrate. The BE Czackiego office building has been awarded the WELL v2 New and Existing Buildings certification at Gold level. The program recognises properties that exemplify best practice in ensuring user comfort, as well as supporting both mental and physical wellbeing in the workplace. This is the first such distinction for a property within the Warsaw-based developer’s portfolio.

The building was acquired by Adgar Poland at the end of 2018. The property was built in 1953 in the Socialist Modernist style and has been an important landmark on the map of Warsaw’s social and cultural life. From the early 1980s until 2010, it housed the headquarters of the Kwadrat Theatre. Upon acquisition, the developer faced the challenging task of adapting the building to new office functions in a way that would enable its sustainable reintegration into the urban fabric, while also respecting and continuing its rich historical legacy.

“This building is an important part of the local urban landscape, and it was very important for us to restore its former glory. We involved experts in urban planning, architecture, and design in this project, and together we created a workspace that combines history with modernity, preserving the original spirit of the place while integrating it with the vibrant community of Warsaw-based companies and entrepreneurs. We opened the door to modernity, but at the same time, by preserving the original façade and introducing a design environment inspired by the building’s theatrical heritage, we have respected its remarkable history.” – says Michael Mevorach, Country Manager of Adgar Poland.

It appears that this mission has been successfully achieved. The property has recently been awarded the Gold certification under the WELL v2 New and Existing Buildings standard. The certification process primarily evaluates criteria related to employee wellbeing and overall user comfort within office environments. Experts assessing a given development examine, among other factors, access to fresh and clean air, high-quality water, appropriate lighting conditions, thermal comfort, and acoustic performance. The evaluation also covers tools, technologies, and solutions that impact human health and wellbeing across categories such as nutrition, mind, and community.

At the BE Czackiego building, Adgar Poland has implemented its proprietary concept of inspiring coworking spaces. Beyond providing comfortable working conditions, the project includes shared areas designed to foster tenant community integration, as well as functional features such as quiet zones, nap rooms, and meditation corners.

It is also worth noting that among the heritage properties where Adgar Poland has implemented the Brain Embassy concept is the former Powszechny Dom Towarowy Wola building, designed by Michał Przerwa-Tetmajer and completed in 1956.
