Adgar PDT Wola, an office and retail building located at 8/12 Młynarska Street in Warsaw, has received the internationally recognized LEED Gold certification. This achievement confirms the high standard of property management and the effectiveness of measures taken to adapt the existing building to contemporary environmental requirements and the needs of its users.
The history of the building dates back to the 1950s. It was constructed between 1949 and 1956, based on a design by architect Michał Przerwa-Tetmajer. Originally, it operated as the Wola Department Store (Powszechny Dom Towarowy Wola), which at the time was one of the symbols of modernity and a distinctive landmark of the district. The building served a retail function until 2005 and has operated as an office and retail property since 2007. Adgar Poland has owned the building since 2021.
Today, Adgar PDT Wola offers more than 8,500 square meters of total space, combining office and retail functions. Achieving LEED Gold certification demonstrates that existing properties, when properly managed and modernized, can successfully meet current standards for energy efficiency, water management, indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort.
Certifying an existing building is a particular challenge. It requires consideration of the building’s structure, original installations, functional layout and current use. The process also relies on an analysis of actual data concerning the property’s day-to-day performance. The certification level achieved by Adgar PDT Wola confirms that a building with such a long history can meet demanding contemporary environmental standards.
